Eola House

The Eola House started out in 1924 as a 2 bedroom, 1 bath bungalow in the Park Lake Highland neighborhood. The property consisted of the original home sitting on a lot and half with a detached one and a half car garage. The owner was a downtown architect with big plans for the property. We peeled the roof off to add a master suite that takes up the entire second floor, along with a pool, cabana, three car garage and a guest apartment. The home was strapped to the studs of the interior and updated with all new wiring, plumbing, air conditioning, and spray foam insulation. Key elements such as original archways, fireplaces and exposed rafters in the kitchen were preserved to maintain some historical connections to the original house. The original wood floors were preserved and refinished in addition to custom made period correct gable windows on the new second story. A wine cellar was added as well as all the modern conveniences in the kitchen and baths for a perfect blend of old and new. The home received 4 Aurora Awards for excellence throughout the entire Southeast and continues to serve the family well after several years.
